PLEASE JOIN US for the 4th Annual Midsummer Art’s Dream Exhibition. A delightful exhibition of juried 2D work in both art and photography!
Due to a date conflict with a show to be held at the Richmond Art Gallery, we have chosen to reschedule our annual date rather than cancel it. This change will give everyone an opportunity to put in an application to both exhibitions.
OUR NEW DATE FOR THE EXHIBITION IS JUNE 26 – 28, 2015!
The results of the survey from last years Exhibition, showed the main focus of change the participants wanted to see, was centered around the people’s Choice award.
We listened, and this year the award process will be changed significantly. We have instituted a new award, one that will be chosen by professionals. We will still have the people’s choice award, and the winners in each discipline will receive a framed certificate. The new award is a first and second place award, again in both disciplines, which will be adjudicated by an independent professional artist and photographer. The 1st place winner will win a cash prize of $200.00 and the 2nd place will receive $100.00 in each category as well as a framed certificate. So to be clear rather than 2 awards there will now be 6. These will be awarded on Sunday June 28th at 3: PM.
This year we are expanding our search for artists and photographers and hope to increase the number presenting their work (up to 3 per person). So don’t be left behind, get your work ready to submit for jury and be sure to read all the material thoroughly. Last year we garnered great media coverage and as this show will be advertised extensively, we expect the audience to grow as well. Our opening reception, with a meet and greet the artists complete with live music and refreshments is always well attended, Friday June 26th between 6 – 8.
All entries must be postmarked by May 29th to be eligible to enter. The entry form and very important information sheet will be available for downloading from our website www.richmondartscouncil.org shortly. We will send out a notification to that effect as soon as it is ready. We will also be putting this information on the City of Richmond website, Opus and the Alliance for the Arts. We sincerely hope that you will either join us in participating or help us spread the word.
